Paris, November 12th, 2019 - SCHC, one of the core innovations behind Acklio’s Software Solutions, enables the compatibility of Smart Meters and LoRaWAN®, a long-range, and low power connectivity.
The DLMS (Device Language Message Specification) is an international standard deployed worldwide across millions of electricity, gas and heat meters. Utilities from around the world use it to deliver reliable, secure and interoperable services over multiple types of communication technologies. LoRaWAN® is the latest addition to the ecosystem thanks to the SCHC (Static Context Header Compression) currently under standardization at the IETF. Bringing DLMS over LoRaWAN® is a critical milestone for both ecosystems and will be a major factor in the future of energy infrastructure and IoT deployments.
Combining energy-efficient, long-range technology with universal and established IP services.
SCHC is the compression and fragmentation technology allowing the portability of Internet technologies (IP protocol stack) over any LPWAN such as LoRaWAN®. It offers interoperability, rapid development and deployment of services, as well as independence from the technologies used.
(DLMS/COSEM) in the E-meter through power line communication: The objects can provide different information and perform some actions, for instance, they are able to: – read energy values – read load profile, reading each 15 minutes over 2 days (stored in the memory of the E-meter) – read.

“With its SCHC-based software solutions, Acklio is leading the next wave of LPWAN service development, deployment and operation. Security, interoperability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness can only be achieved through the use of established core technologies, such as the Internet and the IP stack. Enabling DLMS over LoRaWAN® is a perfect example of our vision being adopted by the market.” Alexander Pelov, CEO and co-founder of Acklio.
Here, smart devices (electricity and gas meter for instance) are sending standardized DLMS/COSEM data communication. This data is transported in IPv6 packets to the LoRaWAN® Network Server. To do so, the packets are fragmented and compressed by Acklio's SCHC implementation. A context is shared between the device and the Acklio IP Core network; the device, data, network-agnostic management platform. From the DLMS/COSEM Interface, the integration is simplified and the management transparent.
Dlms Meter Reading Software For Kids
Bring any protocol over LoRaWAN® thanks to the Acklio SCHC software suite.
This demonstration made at the European Utility Week is an example of SCHC capabilities to adapt and port any IP Protocols over LPWAN.
Acklio enables the IoT ecosystem, devices manufacturers, system integrators, utilities, and operators to:
- integrate smart sensors to new IoT environments without any trade-off of technology capabilities
- ensure end-to-end communication security through established protocols
- extend low-power and long-range connectivity capabilities such as LoRaWAN® to other communication protocols (DLMS, LwM2M...)
Dlms Meter Reading Software For Pc
Firsts commercial partnerships deploying Acklio Software Solutions have already been announced. Euridis association has chosen Acklio SCHC reference design to present DLMS over LoRaWAN® demonstration. And Nemeus, the module manufacturer, offers DLMS over LoRaWAN® smart metering solutions, based on Acklio SCHC implementation.
